Plagiarism Policy

The Software Engineering and Artificial Intelligence Systems journal is committed to upholding the highest standards of academic integrity and ethical publishing. To ensure that all content published in the journal is original and properly attributed, the following plagiarism policy has been established:

  1. Definition of Plagiarism:

    • Plagiarism refers to the use of someone else’s ideas, processes, results, or words without proper acknowledgment. It includes, but is not limited to:

      • Copying and pasting text from a source without citation.

      • Paraphrasing someone else’s work without proper attribution.

      • Presenting others' data or research findings as one's own.

      • Using images, graphs, or tables without proper permission or citation.

  2. Commitment to Originality:

    • All manuscripts submitted to the Software Engineering and Artificial Intelligence Systems journal must be original, unpublished, and not under consideration for publication elsewhere. Authors are required to ensure that their work is free from plagiarism, self-plagiarism, and any form of unethical research practices.

  3. Pre-Submission Check:

    • Authors are encouraged to check their work for potential plagiarism before submission using reputable plagiarism detection tools (e.g., Turnitin, iThenticate).

    • Manuscripts that exhibit a high degree of similarity with existing published works or fail to meet originality standards will be rejected immediately.

  4. Plagiarism Detection During Review:

    • The journal employs plagiarism detection software to check submitted manuscripts against a wide range of academic databases, publications, and online resources.

    • If plagiarism is detected during the review process, the editorial team will notify the corresponding author and request a detailed explanation. Depending on the severity of the plagiarism, the manuscript may be rejected or returned to the author for revision.

  5. Action on Plagiarism:

    • If plagiarism is confirmed after publication, the journal will take appropriate action. This may include:

      • Correction or Retraction: If the plagiarized content is substantial, the journal may issue a correction or retraction notice, and the article will be removed from the journal's archive with a public notice of retraction.

      • Notification to Authors’ Institutions: In cases of significant or repeated plagiarism, the editorial team may report the incident to the author’s affiliated institution for further investigation.

      • Blacklisting: Authors found to have committed serious plagiarism may be banned from submitting to the journal in the future.

  6. Self-Plagiarism:

    • Self-plagiarism occurs when authors reuse their own previously published content without proper citation or acknowledgment. While authors are allowed to reuse portions of their previous work, they must provide clear citations and fully disclose any overlap with prior publications.

    • Authors must obtain permission from the original publisher if the content is under copyright protection.

  7. Handling of Suspected Plagiarism:

    • If a manuscript is suspected of plagiarism, the editorial team will conduct an investigation in collaboration with the authors, reviewers, and any relevant third parties.

    • Authors will be given the opportunity to respond to any allegations of plagiarism and provide clarifications or additional references as needed.

  8. Ethical Responsibilities of Authors:

    • Authors are responsible for ensuring that their manuscript complies with the journal’s plagiarism policy and academic integrity standards.

    • Proper citation of all sources, including research articles, books, websites, and other media, is required to avoid plagiarism.

    • Authors should disclose any financial, personal, or academic conflicts of interest that could influence the research or its interpretation.

  9. Role of Reviewers and Editors:

    • Reviewers are expected to report any suspicions of plagiarism or unethical research practices during the peer review process.

    • Editors are responsible for ensuring that manuscripts meet the journal’s ethical standards and for taking appropriate action if plagiarism is detected.
