Engineering Design for Carbon Capture and Storage (CCS) Systems: A Multidisciplinary Perspective from Pakistan
Keywords:
Carbon Capture, Geological Storage, Engineering Design, Climate MitigationAbstract
Carbon Capture and Storage (CCS) systems are pivotal in mitigating anthropogenic CO₂ emissions from industrial sources. This paper presents a comprehensive engineering design approach for CCS technologies tailored to the Pakistani context, focusing on key system components—capture, compression, transportation, and storage. We discuss the comparative efficiencies, economic feasibility, and geological suitability for CO₂ sequestration in Pakistan. Utilizing a combination of simulation models and feasibility assessments, we propose an integrated design framework suited for application in fossil-fuel-intensive regions. Visual data representation, including comparative performance and cost graphs, provides practical insights into CCS deployment across multiple sectors.
