Abstract

Mining activities have historically contributed to significant environmental degradation globally, including land degradation, water contamination, and biodiversity loss. This article explores sustainable mining engineering practices that mitigate environmental impacts while supporting resource extraction needs. Emphasizing the integration of environmental conservation within mining operations, this study reviews contemporary techniques such as eco-friendly extraction methods, waste management, land reclamation, and regulatory frameworks implemented globally and in Pakistan. Data-driven analysis evaluates the efficiency of sustainable mining practices in reducing carbon footprints and water pollution, proposing policy recommendations to enhance environmental stewardship in the Pakistani mining sector.
