Abstract

Smart grid technologies have emerged as a cornerstone for achieving sustainable energy management by enhancing the efficiency, reliability, and integration of renewable energy sources into power systems. This paper reviews the key components of smart grids, their applications in sustainable energy management, and the challenges faced in the deployment of smart grids in Pakistan. The integration of advanced metering infrastructure, demand response systems, and distributed energy resources are analyzed. Furthermore, the role of smart grids in reducing carbon emissions and enhancing grid resilience is highlighted. The paper also discusses future directions and policy recommendations to facilitate smart grid adoption for sustainable development in Pakistan.
